Society of St Vincent de Paul

Blessed Frédéric Ozanam founded the Society of St Vincent de Paul while still a student in Paris in 1833. While our Lord said that poverty will never be entirely eradicated this side of eternity (Mk. 14), the Society is dedicated to the elevation of the effects of poverty in the community. Its members wish to fulfil the words of Jesus: “I was hungry, and you gave me food. I was thirsty and you gave me drink. I as a stranger and you brought me home; naked, and you clothed me; sick, and you cared for me, a prisoner and you came to me” (Mt. 25).
