Society of St Vincent de Paul

Blessed Frédéric Ozanam founded the Society of St Vincent de Paul while still a student in Paris in 1833. While our Lord said that poverty will never be entirely eradicated this side of eternity (Mk. 14), the Society is dedicated to the elevation of the effects of poverty in the community. Its members wish to fulfil the words of Jesus: “I was hungry, and you gave me food. I was thirsty and you gave me drink. I as a stranger and you brought me home; naked, and you clothed me; sick, and you cared for me, a prisoner and you came to me” (Mt. 25).

St Gerard’s has a highly active parish conference of the Society and cares for hundreds of families in the parish area. As the harvest is great and there are never too many labourers, if you are interested in this very rewarding work, please call Mr James Tudehope on 0419 500 647.
