St Philip Neri Young Men’s Circle

Please note: As of January 2024, this group will not be held until further notice.

The St Philip Neri Young Men’s Circle is a group for Catholic men (from age 18).

The group is perfect for any man who wants to meet other likeminded Catholic young men, be informed and be encouraged to live his Faith more deeply.

You don’t have to be a member of St Gerard’s to come along. It already includes members from other parishes.

The night is led by one of the priests and it often centres around a talking point. These could be a matter of faith, some practical tips on how to pray, or a reflection on history or politics. They are always timely and responsive to current events. After, there is discussion over food, beer and wine – except during lent, when the priests provide the water!

The namesake of St Philip Neri, 16th century priest in Rome, was chosen for two reasons. In his time, St Philip brought small groups of Catholic men together to pray and support each other in faith. This sparked a successful movement of ‘Oratories’ which still exist today. Second, he had a wonderful sense of humour. For him; “a joyful heart is more easily made perfect than a downcast one.
